The robot I designed, built and programmed creates a map while finding its way to a goal through an obstacle course. It returns using the most direct path, like a rat solving a maze. This form of machine learning can be applied to developing robotic vehicles for autonomous exploration of remote or hazardous places.

Solar flare activity has a great effect on satellites and power grids. My project studies the relationship between solar flares and the magnetic structures of sunspots. With my own 32 cm telescope and computer program, I found that large, magnetically complex sunspots create more solar flares.

Queen's University Scholarships
The scholarships are offered to five students, selected from the divisional Gold medal winners, who enter Queen's University for further studies. The students will each receive an entrance scholarships of $10,000 each.
